Marie Fischborn

PANORAMA Partnership Coordinator, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Global Advisor | Prize

Marie Fischborn is with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the world’s oldest and largest environmental organization. Marie co-leads the multi-partner learning initiative PANORAMA – Solutions for a Healthy Planet. She has been the driving force in PANORAMA’s development and evolution over the last 7 years. PANORAMA identifies and promotes examples of inspiring, replicable solutions across a range of conservation and development topics from “solution providers” around the world, ranging from community organizations to government agencies and international NGOs. PANORAMA allows practitioners to share and reflect on their experiences, increase recognition for successful work, and to learn with their peers how similar challenges have been addressed around the globe. Marie works closely with partners from seven leading conservation and development organizations who are PANORAMA partners, as well as with a global network of contributors and reviewers. She also leads the development and implementation of IUCN projects supporting knowledge exchange and “solutioning” particularly in relation to marine protected areas. Marie’s expertise covers knowledge management and learning as well as international nature conservation, particularly protected areas and marine conservation. She is the author or co-author of several PANORAMA publications.

Marie is based at IUCN headquarters in Switzerland, even though her work frequently takes her to countries particularly in the global South. She holds a master’s degree in Biodiversity and Ecology and an Executive Certificate in Environmental Governance and Policy-Making.
