To tackle the socio-economic effects of the sudden lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic, Yuva Vikas Mandal proactively supported over 16,500 families from the most marginalized and excluded communities. This included: Distribution of ration kits to 5000 migrant families and people from disadvantaged groups,; Distribution of masks to 10,000 children from migrant and other disadvantaged groups; and Provision of PPE, hygiene and Safety kits to 500 frontline workers such as nurses, police personnel, sanitation workers and other government workers deployed on ground for Covid relief. To protect and support children from marginalized communities facing hunger and food insecurity, the organization distributed nutritious dietary kits to 500 malnourished children. Additionally, YVM reached out to over 50,000 families with information on the prevention of the COVID 19 virus through door-to-door awareness drives, organized in collaboration with the local government.
