MULIKA(FGM) is a virtual report desk in use by Security Intelligence Committees countrywide. It is a product wholly owned by Integrity Support Services Ltd. (ISS)

Female Genital Mutilation is one of the most extreme forms of violence against girls also known as female genital cutting or female circumcision. The procedure can cause severe bleeding, infections including HIV, infertility and even death. Afterward, girls are often taken out of school and forced into early marriage. FGM can have devastating physical, psychological, and social consequences for the rest of the girls’ lives. This is the problem MULIKA FGM seeks to address; providing a reporting platform where communities and stakeholders opposed to the practice can report to authorities safely, anonymously and conveniently using their mobile phones.

To make a report the public can download the MULIKA APP on android or via the MULIKA ONLINE PORTAL (www.mulikakenya.co.ke) or through send a text on 988. A multi-agency security team linked to the system responds in real-time. The officers are drawn from the National Police Service, National Intelligence Service, Criminal Investigation Office as well as County Commissioner’s office. They receive a report branded ‘MULIKA’ and therefore, the user identity is concealed.

How to get involved

We would like to ask for support in creating awareness so that more people can know of the existence of the platform and report this heinous practice anonymously and safely at no cost. We also request for stakeholders in this space to get in touch should they require our support on the use of the platform and add value to the programs they are running on Gender-Based Violence mitigation.
