Personal Bio

Anita Ravi, MD, MPH, MSHP, FAAFP, is the CEO and co-founder of PurpLE Health Foundation, a non-profit transforming healthcare for survivors of gender-based violence through comprehensive healthcare, research, and economic opportunity. She is a board-certified family medicine physician, public health scientist, and nationally recognized expert in the areas of gender-based violence and trauma-informed care. Dr. Ravi regularly teaches, writes, and draws about how the healthcare system must radically change to meet the needs of people who have been historically marginalized. Dr. Ravi is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Michigan School of Medicine. She also holds a Masters in Public Health from Yale University and a Masters in Health Policy research from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Project Description

PurpLE Health Foundation is transforming healthcare for survivors of gender-based violence. PurpLE’s work includes serving survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual assault who have experienced socioeconomic traumas, such as incarceration, homelessness, and having an undocumented immigration status. Through a trauma-informed, survivor-centered approach, PurpLE facilitates a holistic healthcare delivery sensitive to survivors’ physical, mental, and financial health, while also serving as a health equity research and training hub for optimizing the health of historically marginalized communities.
